TRIBUTE TO LATE PROF. LUIS CUEVAS

Bingham University and the Zankli Research Community is deeply saddened over the demise of Professor Luis Cuevas of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), UK, who died on the 2nd of January 2023.

Until his death, he was a great friend, an ally of Bingham University and was instrumental to the establishment of the Zankli Research Centre alongside the Late Prof. Lovett Lawson in 2015. Since the establishment of the Centre, Prof Luis continued to strengthen the collaboration between the University and LSTM which led to renewing of the Memoranda of Understanding between the two institutions.
He was a mentor to many, both in the University and in the TB Community in Nigeria spearheading better diagnostics to people with TB and other infectious diseases.
He was always willing to support new ideas as seen in of many the research works in epidemiology and the diagnosis of infectious diseases particularly Tuberculosis.
He will be sorely missed by the University Community and all that were impacted by his works all over the world.
Our deepest sympathy to LSTM family and may God console his immediate family on this great loss.

  On the 29 th  of August,2023 a capacity-strengthening session was held with Mr. Daburi Misal, the Director of Public Affairs of Bingham University, organized by Mr Andrew Oguntolu for research assistants (RAs) and interns of Zankli Research Center, Bingham University. It was aimed at broadening the knowledge of the participants on mastering the art of writing and journalism.   Training session with Mr. Daburi Misal ,  Director of Public Affairs, Bingham University Mr. Misal, started with a brief introduction on what writing and journalism are and their requirements. ZANKLI RESEARCH CENTRE HOLDS ONE DAY STAKEHOLDERS WORKSHOP TO ENLIGHTEN PARTICIPANTS ON THE POWER OF PHOTOVOICE.

  The Photovoice Stakeholders Workshop which was held recently at Bolton White Hotel in Abuja provided a platform for key stakeholders from the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy programme of the Ministry of Health, KNCV Nigeria, STOPTB and other stakeholders to learn about and engage with the Photovoice methodology in the context of Tuberculosis (TB) control in Nigeria. The workshop, organized by the LIGHT Consortium and Zankli Research Centre, aimed to educate participants on the significance of using photographs to amplify the voices of individuals and drive positive change in communities affected by TB. Dr. Bimba, Director of Zankli Research Centre, opened the workshop by expressing gratitude to all attendees and providing an overview of the LIGHT Consortium's mission.
