MASTER MINUTES AND REPORT WRITING WITH DR. BARNABAS ABESADU In the pursuit of enhancing professional skills, a recent meeting was organized with a clear objective: to equip researchers from Zankli Research Centre with the necessary training on minute-taking and the art of crafting reports.   Dr. Barnabas Abesadu who is the Senior Deputy Registrar in charge of the Senior Staff Establishment of Bingham University, started the meeting with a preamble about the functions of the Establishment Unit which includes appointment, promotion, and discipline of staff. He added that the Unit is responsible for the custodian of all files of the staff in the University.   On the 29 th  of August,2023 a capacity-strengthening session was held with Mr. Daburi Misal, the Director of Public Affairs of Bingham University, organized by Mr Andrew Oguntolu for research assistants (RAs) and interns of Zankli Research Center, Bingham University. It was aimed at broadening the knowledge of the participants on mastering the art of writing and journalism.   Training session with Mr. Daburi Misal ,  Director of Public Affairs, Bingham University Mr. Misal, started with a brief introduction on what writing and journalism are and their requirements. He also outlined the 5 W’s (who, what, where, when & why) and H (how) of writing for media and blogs. ZANKLI RESEARCH CENTRE HOLDS ONE DAY STAKEHOLDERS WORKSHOP TO ENLIGHTEN PARTICIPANTS ON THE POWER OF PHOTOVOICE.

  The Photovoice Stakeholders Workshop which was held recently at Bolton White Hotel in Abuja provided a platform for key stakeholders from the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy programme of the Ministry of Health, KNCV Nigeria, STOPTB and other stakeholders to learn about and engage with the Photovoice methodology in the context of Tuberculosis (TB) control in Nigeria. The workshop, organized by the LIGHT Consortium and Zankli Research Centre, aimed to educate participants on the significance of using photographs to amplify the voices of individuals and drive positive change in communities affected by TB. Dr. Bimba, Director of Zankli Research Centre, opened the workshop by expressing gratitude to all attendees and providing an overview of the LIGHT Consortium's mission. What is LIGHT? (Leaving no one behInd: transforming Gendered pathways to Health for TB) LIGHT is a six-year cross-disciplinary global health research programme funded by UK aid, led by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), and working with partners in Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Uganda, and the UK. LIGHT aims to provide new evidence on the effectiveness of different gender-sensitive pathways and approaches to health for those with TB in urban, HIV-prevalent settings. BINGHAM UNIVERSITY’S ZANKLI RESEARCH CENTRE MARKS WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY 2023. The Zankli Research Centre joined other local as well as international organizations to commemorate World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24. This day had been observed since the year 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch, German physician and microbiologist, announced that he had discovered the organism that causes TB. The theme for this year's World TB Day: ‘Yes! We can end TB!’ conveys a message of hope and getting back-on-track to turn the tide against the TB epidemic through high-level leadership, increased investments, adoption of innovations, accelerated action and multi-sectoral collaborations. The event was marked with a road walk from Kuchikau to Masaka Market to raise awareness of the disease. TRIBUTE TO LATE PROF. LUIS CUEVAS

Bingham University and the Zankli Research Community is deeply saddened over the demise of Professor Luis Cuevas of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), UK, who died on the 2nd of January 2023. Until his death, he was a great friend, an ally of Bingham University and was instrumental to the establishment of the Zankli Research Centre alongside the Late Prof. Lovett Lawson in 2015. Since the establishment of the Centre, Prof Luis continued to strengthen the collaboration between the University and LSTM which led to renewing of the Memoranda of Understanding between the two institutions. He was a mentor to many, both in the University and in the TB Community in Nigeria spearheading better diagnostics to people with TB and other infectious diseases. He was always willing to support new ideas as seen in of many the research works in epidemiology and the diagnosis of infectious diseases particularly Tuberculosis. A Team from LIGHT Consortiums visits Nigeria

Introduction: In a significant effort to combat the widespread impact of tuberculosis (TB), Rachael Thomson (LIGHT’S CEO) and Prof. Bertie Squire embarked on a visit to the Zankli Research Centre in Nigeria. The purpose of their visit was to foster collaboration with the LIGHT Team, a dedicated group working towards eradicating TB through research and intervention programs. This blog post explores their visit to the Zankli Research Centre, their courtesy visit to Bingham University's Vice-Chancellor, their meeting with the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme (NTBLCP), their engagement with KNCV Nigeria, and their visit to the FCDO.
